Guide Pins and Guide Bushes are used to align stacked mould plates. Various standards are available, however essentially they all perform the same job. Use of a light lubricant such as oil containing P.T.F.E. is advised. Some mold makers or service technicians prefer to use grease however it is important to make sure both the grease and the utensil used to apply the grease (eg. brush) is clean of any metal chips, flakes or other debris as this form of debris can build up between the leader pin and the bush during installation, and could cause galling.
During installation is also recommended to install your guide pins and bushes as straight as possible into their respective holes, with pressure applied to the top of heads of the guide pins and bushes. Striking the pin or bush head at an angle can apply additional side loads that could cause galling during installation.
